The Opening meeting of the POLISH DANISH BUSINESS FORUM took place 30 November 2005 in Kuppelsalen, Danske Bank.

The inaugural session took place at the Danske Bank premises, as a sign of this Bank support for the idea of giving Polish and Danish businesses opportunity to get in direct touch, exchange their experiences, make mutual links stronger and therefore to intensify and facilitate their economic activity.

Forum was founded in August 2005 by the Embassy of Poland in Copenhagen, Weglokoks Scandinavia A/S, Vindrose Rejser A/S and Mazanti-Andersen, Korso Jensen and Partnere. The main goal is to promote Polish – Danish economic cooperation in the common interest of its participants.

It should be considered a success that almost 30 Danish and Polish companies took part at this first meeting.

Polish Danish Business Forum invited for the opening session the new Ambassador of the Republic of Poland , Mr Jakub Wolski and the former Ambassador of Denmark to Poland, Mr Michael Metz Morch, who has accomplished his mission in Warsaw recently.

In his address Ambassador of Poland expressed his full support of Forum’s idea and his readiness to cooperate with its members. He emphasized that the new Polish government attaches great importance to the successful economic cooperation with EU countries.

The Ambassador Morch described his observation concerning economic performance of Poland and opportunities for Danish businesses, encouraging them to enter this market and operate there.

President of Polish Danish Business Forum, Mr Philip S. Thorsen presented Board’s members, the goals of the Forum and its plans of activities for 2006. The next meeting will be organized in Warsaw in January 2006. The following meetings will be held alternately in Warsaw and in Copenhagen, to better attract the businesses from both sides.

In a friendly atmosphere there was enough time for informal talks between the representatives of Polish companies who came to Copenhagen for this occasion and Danish firms interested in bilateral cooperation.
